The Mediterranean Pop Art of Dieciottantanove

Dieciottantanove is the work of Italian artist and architect Paola Edvige Fiori. An Italian native now working and living near Dubrovnik, Croatia, she talked to Racquet about how she combines her lifelong love of tennis, the Mediterranean Sea and geometrical shapes in her evolving art practice.

Racquet: Where do you live now, where are you from, what makes up your day and what inspires you to create?

PEF: I am Italian, originally from a small village in the north of Italy, between Milan and Genova, but I've been adopted by Croatia. I currently live in central Dalmatia, where sea, mountains and stunning islands are merging, a wonderful place where you can play tennis along the water.

Nature is my biggest inspiration, here we find all the colors, shapes, textures that are a continuous and wonderful discovery; the sea and its neverending shades of blue is something truly magical.
